We've launched with a fresh coat of paint and new features.
You may have realized we are now on astrola.io. After a few months of trying to grow the original product, we have decided to split the app into two.
The main reason we discovered after launch was that many users only wanted a certain feature. It made them look in another direction as they got confused with our pricing structure.
astrola.io - Now focusses on feedback, roadmaps, and changelogs.
dackdocs.com - This is our new platform that handles documentation for your products.
Blogging? - We have decided to drop support for this. While it was nice, there are many robust solutions out there already. (Wordpress/Statamic/Jekyll etc).
Astrola and Dackdocs are powered by a brand new engine. Under the hood, we are making use of the awesome InertiaJS and Laravel. For custom domains, we have switched out NGINX and a myriad of API setups to Caddy.
Astrola has seen quite an overhaul in the feature department. We have done away with user registrations and opted for a similar approach to Mailchimp. A user can follow or post new feedback by entering their email and wait for an email verification link before continuing. This should help speed up customers that would like to be notified of feedback updates.
We also discovered that allowing users in the early days of your product to post feedback can look quite barren on the Feedback boards. For example, our own feedback board has hardly seen any activity. To us, this looks pretty poor from an outsider's perspective, even though we have had lots going behind the scenes.
With this in mind, when feedback is submitted on Astrola, it is sent into the "Inbox" area now instead. This lets your team decide if it should be added to your public Roadmap and Boards or discarded. We also show you similar feedback items and merge them to those instead.
Customers can also view similar public feedback while they are posting too to help reduce being overloaded with feedback requests.
You can now quickly invite team members and assign them to specific feedback posts. There's a handy "Assigned" area that shows all your feedback.
We have taken your advice and added a Kanban-style Roadmap. This will let customers quickly see what's Under Review, Planned and In Progress - Note that we don't show Open status posts (posts submitted by users) here so you are in control of what should be shown. When you switch the status to any of the above, it will appear in your Roadmap.
Changelogs have had a new coat of paint too. You can add as many "Groups" as you like which keeps posts organized. The editor is also markdown supported!
